Placeholder

About the Project

Placeholder was our team's entry for Hackabury 2025, which took home the overall theme prize for the theme of "Unity". It was each member of the team's first experience making a game from start to finish, and in 24 hours every second counted. The game features a series of tasks, the quantity of which increases as you play, and the player must juggle performing each task every so often in order to keep their bosses happy, and the company afloat.

I personally worked on the game's scripting, working entirely within Godot and scripting the game using the engine's native scripting language, GDScript. This was my first ever game jam, and my first time using Godot aside from playing with it in my spare time. I learned a lot about quickly adding value to the game under pressure, and testing the game as thoroughly as possible within the short time we had in order to create a solid, reliable demo of the game for judging at the end of the 24-hour hackathon. I also gained valuable experience in working with other important areas of a video game, as I had to integrate assets from our team's artist and sound designer and get the whole project to mesh together smoothly.

I am incredibly proud of how well our team performed at our first game jam, and look forward to my next opportunity to work on another video game project.
